The pictures serve as an emblem of the patient's personal life and allow me to get to know them, to bring out the human spirit and learn from the connection that we share ... The Art a la Carte program has solidified my desire to become a doctor whose work goes beyond the physical treatment of patients.

New art for chemotherapy unit
Lengthy treatment protocols become more manageable for patients when given a brighter view.

Patients receiving chemotherapy at a Calgary cancer treatment centre are now able to enjoy a colourful showcase of artwork thanks to the addition of 70 fresh giclées produced by Canadian Art Prints. The pictures provide distraction and comfort not only for the patients but the staff as is evidenced by the commentary below:

"The artwork provides ... a fresh and energetic perspective to a very busy, intense, and at times emotional clinical setting. The canvases are a positive distraction bringing a deja vu experience to some of our patients. The collections are varied, colorful, tasteful, and sometimes provide a therapeutic touch of humour.

Our heartfelt thanks to Deb, the mastermind behind these incredible donations that have added so much to the treatment experience of our patients and the environment for our staff."
