Hospital volunteers gather in friendship
In spite of hundreds of visitations at the bedside, our dedicated palliative volunteers often find themselves short on time to get to know one another. To help address this situation, a volunteer luncheon was held on November 10th much to everyone's delight. New members of the team were regaled with stories that covered everything from water in Egypt to emotional art exchanges. Everyone took a turn sharing their favorite memories and, as with the patients we serve, our heartfelt connections grew.
Adel and our two Ruths
Debbie presented each volunteer with a small gift of appreciation with special recognition afforded to Volunteer Coordinator, Ruth Trueman. Affectionately referred to as "Boss Lady", we are all indebted to Ruth for her guidance, attention to detail and unwavering sense of humanity. Words cannot express the gratitude felt for the endless hours of compassionate dedication provided by every member of our art team.
The day was another shining example of how the spirit of Art à la Carte remains strong in the face of economic and health care uncertainty.
