Virginia Boulay
Artist and graphic designer, Virginia Boulay has contributed to all aspects of the Art à la Carte program since its inception.
Virginia Boulay's passion for nature was inspired by her west coast beginnings, and nurtured through her time spent hiking Alberta's prairies and mountains.

Boulay turned to painting in 1985, supplementing an already successful career as a graphic designer and illustrator. Early on, she found her strength in watercolour. Its sometimes surprising temperament attracted Boulay for its parallel to life and nature. All Boulay's works show a strong sense of design, and compelling use of colour, form and movement. Her paintings speak of an artist who has taken the time to participate with the landscape she captures, rather than someone who is merely a spectator.

Inspired by The Group of Seven, Emily Carr and American artist, Georgia O'Keefe, Boulay exhibits her work at the Leighton Foundation Museum and the Avens Gallery in Canmore. She is currently illustrating several children's books.
