Ted Raftery
Ted's "big sky" Alberta landscapes win the patient choice award time and time again.
Ted Raftery emigrated to Canada from his native England in 1974 and became a Canadian citizen and full time artist in 1978. He first received recognition for his "Big Sky" prairie paintings but later specialized in mountain winter scenes. Lately he has returned to painting the prairies particularly the farm lands in eastern and southern Alberta. Foothills scenes, combining farmland and mountains, have also become popular.

He is basically self taught although admits a debt to the English masters, Turner and Constable. Some of the earlier American artists, such as Bierstadt and Moran have also influenced him.
He signs his paintings simply "Raf", an old childhood nickname.
Raf has been exhibited in galleries in Calgary, Edmonton, Arizona, California, Florida and Montana. He is represented in collections in Australia, U.S.A., Hong Kong, Japan, Great Britain and Germany.
